Both are trade names, not grades listed in the report. "Champagne" refers to light shades, while "Cognac" refers to darker, often orange-brown shades. For example, the report lists "Fancy Light Brown" or "Fancy Deep Orangy Brown."
"Orangy Brown" looks more vibrant, while "Grayish Brown" looks more muted. Use the photos as a guide.
Rose gold and yellow gold complement the warm tone and make the stone appear softer.
| Level | This is how the stone works |
|---|---|
| Faint bis Light | A faint hint of color, often visible only next to a white stone. |
| Fancy Light | Brightly colored, but light. |
| Fancy | A clearly visible color. |
| Fancy Intense | Vivid and recognizable even from a distance. |
| Fancy Vivid | Very strong and vibrant. |
| Fancy Deep und Dark | A rich color with a darker hue. |
In natural gemstones, it is usually caused by distortions in the crystal lattice. In lab-grown diamonds, it can occur during growth or result from post-treatment. The report specifies this.
This is the term the jewelry industry uses for brown diamonds with a light, warm hue. The report includes a "Brown" designation, such as "Fancy Light Brown."
Brown is one of the most readily available colored diamonds, even as a natural stone. You can see the current prices in the list above.
Lab-grown diamonds and natural diamonds are both composed of pure carbon and share the same crystal structure, hardness, and refractive index. The difference lies in their formation: one forms over millions of years in the Earth’s mantle, the other in a matter of weeks in a laboratory. Visually, they are indistinguishable without specialized laboratory equipment. Lab-grown diamonds are significantly less expensive than comparable natural diamonds, which is why, with the same budget, you can often get more carats or a higher clarity grade. Both types come with a laboratory certificate from us; you can look up the report number directly with the laboratory.
