The round cut is the most popular shape for engagement rings and the only one for which a lab assigns its own cut grade. Here you can view our current inventory of round diamonds—both lab-grown and naturally formed—each certified by IGI or GIA. Prices are listed openly, and you can filter by carat weight, color, and clarity. The statutory 14-day right of withdrawal applies to every order.

Round is the only shape for which the GIA and IGI assign a cut grade of “Excellent” or lower. This grade encompasses proportions, polish, and symmetry and is the single most important factor in a diamond’s brilliance. Look at this first, then at the rest. Two stones with the same carat weight, colour, and clarity can differ significantly based solely on their cut.
The round brilliant cut refracts light more strongly than any other cut, thereby concealing small inclusions. VS2 and, often, SI1 diamonds appear clear to the naked eye as long as the inclusions are not centreed beneath the table. As for colour, a grade of G to H is sufficient to create an impression that is virtually indistinguishable from colourless, especially in white gold or platinum.
One carat equals 0.2 grams; it is therefore a unit of weight, not a unit of size. A round diamond weighing 1 ct measures approximately 6.5 mm in diameter, while a 2 ct diamond measures approximately 8.1 mm. Although the weight doubles, the visible diameter increases by only about a quarter. If you’re looking for visual size, you should also make sure the stone’s depth isn’t too great.
Because the round cut has standardized proportions, its light performance can be objectively evaluated. For this reason, the GIA and IGI assign an overall grade—such as “Excellent” or “Very Good”—only for this cut. For fancy shapes, the laboratories instead evaluate polish and symmetry separately; the table, depth, and length-to-width ratio are listed in the certificate.
In practice, the cutoff is usually VS2 or SI1. It’s not just the grade that matters, but also the location of the inclusions: when they’re on the sides of the girdle, they’re hardly noticeable, but when they’re in the center of the table, they’re more distracting. For stones two carats and larger, it’s worth taking a closer look because the visible surface area increases.
No. Both have the same crystal structure, the same hardness, and the same refractive index, so they sparkle the same way. They can only be distinguished in the lab based on subtle growth marks. The origin is always listed on the certificate and, in our case, also in the product description, so you know exactly what you’re buying.
That depends on the diameter and the setting. A narrow band and a raised prong setting make the same stone appear larger than a wide band with side stones. As a general guide: 1 ct measures about 6.5 mm in diameter, 1.5 ct about 7.4 mm, and 2 ct about 8.1 mm.
Lab-grown diamonds and natural diamonds are both composed of pure carbon and share the same crystal structure, hardness, and refractive index. The difference lies in their formation: one forms over millions of years in the Earth’s crust, while the other is created in a matter of weeks in a laboratory. Visually, they are indistinguishable without specialized laboratory equipment. Lab-grown diamonds are significantly less expensive than comparable natural diamonds, which is why you can often get more carats or a higher clarity grade for the same budget. Both types are certified by IGI or GIA; you can look up the report number directly with the lab.
